[full-time] Graphic Arts Technician at Print Three

We are looking for a creative and sharp Graphic Arts Technician to join our team and undertake a wide variety of projects. This team member will be responsible for creating graphics 3D elements for current and new clients with a majority being web based graphics. Extensive knowledge of print production and Raster Image Processing software is also required.

This is a full time position. You must be able to work in our office.

QUALIFICATION:
• A college diploma in commercial or graphic arts, computer graphics or animated design is required.
• Experience or training in multimedia design at a post-secondary, college or technical institution may be required
• Creative ability and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work, are required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will render all reasonable duties expected of Graphic Arts Technician:

• Layout, Graphic Design, Colour Correction, and set-up of Contour Cutting.
• Correctly interpret from the screen to the printer using Print Driver Controls to properly interface with Internal and External “RIP” (Raster Image Processor) .
• Setup files for Duplo DC-645 using Job Creator Software for cut, crease and perforation.
• Setup files for Mimaki CJV30-130 using Rasterlink Pro for cut, half-cut and calibrating it for different media types.
• Setup files for Konica Minolta using CREO Rip.
• Configure file merges using XMpie.
• Print from AutoCad/Adobe Suite/ Coral Draw/ Quark Express.
• Review the graphic designer’s instructions.
• Produce or assist in developing and producing design concepts.
• Capture elements such as titles, text, drawings, illustrations, graphics, lettering, colour harmonization, etc. using a computer.
• Produce computerized images and drawings.
• Digitize images using peripherals and transform them using retouching systems, graphic palettes or specialized software.
• Perform the layout, page make-up and placement using the conceptual mock-ups provided.
• Produce proofs and camera-ready materials and prepare film and any other prepress materials.
• Paint or ink individual cells of 2-D or 3-D animated drawings according to animator’s specifications using an electronic palette.
• Lay out, draw or paint letters, figures, logos and designs for windows, advertisements, billboards, vehicles, books and publications using specialized software or painting equipment.
• Work in an interdisciplinary environment.

Job Summary:
The Art Expression Therapist will create a full-day workshop for (15) Latina youth using different methods of expressive arts that will empower the youth and deal with the themes of body image, healthy relationships and sexual choices. This project is aimed at Latina youth (14-17) that are at high risk and/or experiencing obstacles and difficulties with body image, healthy relationships and sexual choices. The focus is on youth from the Jane and Finch area, but is open to all Latina youth interested in participating. This position reports directly to the MUJER Coordinator.

The youth retreat will be taking place in early March 2012.

Responsibilities:
• Ensure that MUJER’s goals, deliverables and outcomes in the project are met;
• Prepare a detailed work plan and calendar of activities for the full program;
• Develop and implement content of workshop that would deal with body image, self-esteem, sexual violence, and self-care, through creative art expression;
• Foster inclusion, engagement and leadership in this initiative;
• Conduct project evaluations and maintain accurate statistical data;
• Complete a final detailed report as requested by MUJER and funders;

Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree with 2 years experience in a social service setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including creative Art—Expression;
• In-depth knowledge of issues affecting marginalized girls that are at high risk for issues related to body imags, healthy relationships and sexual choices;
• Knowledge and sensitivity with the Latino – Canadian community in Jane and Finch and the Greater Toronto areas on issues pertaining to violence, poverty, and migration from a feminist and cultural perspective;
• Excellent ability to facilitate workshops, group sessions;
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines;
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
• Demonstrated experience and skills in program development and implementation;
• Strong organizational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills;
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and successfully resolve problems as they arise;
• Excellent Spanish- English communication skills, written and verbal;
• Access to a vehicle is an asset;
• Police check required;
