Sr Application Consultants-Cognos for 4 month contract.. Work Location: 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario L1H 8P7

Job Requirements:
Consultant has to be able to convert reports in Cognos 10. The client is turning EDW data into information that the business can use for making decisions. While they can create reports today most or one-offs for a single user, group or department.
They want to get to more of a drill down environment "executive information dashboard" in the future. Current resources are working on operational activities or bring in more data into the EDW and we need to develop more BI type stuff. Ability to work through/lead a conversion from Cognos 7 to Cognos 8.4 or greater. Ability to create reports. Ability to analyze existing Cognos environment and determine approach for Cognos 8.4. Ability to create a dashboard environment.

Qualifications
- Expertise in Software Engineering tools, Software Engineering Environment configuration and management, and Software Engineering Data Management
- Expertise in relevant Software Engineering infrastructure and architecture; understanding of underlying application technologies, operating systems and infrastructure supporting system development and deployment
- Expertise in Impacting and Estimation, software engineering, good practice, leadership and governance
- Experience with full project delivery life cycles
- Experience with delivering client value & service excellence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
- Experience interpreting client needs; assessing full requirements and identifying solutions to non standard task queries
- Successful teamwork experience with proven leadership/coaching of others
- Experience identifying key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data and coming up with new less
obvious solutions to problems
- Experience prioritizing and managing own time to meet agreed to targets; develop plans for specific work
activities over the short term (including forecasting & resource requirement)
- Experience explaining difficult issues clearly and establishing consensus and agreement
- Experience creating information networks with key contacts in area of expertise

Additional requirements:
1) Ability to work through/lead a conversion from Cognos 7 to Costnos 8.4 or greater
Ability to create reports
Ability to analyze existing Cognos environment and determine approach for Cognos 8.4
Ability to do some Cognos data modeling
Ability to create a dashboard environment
Nice to have some Oracle experience, knows MS Office tool suite. Goal is to to be able to turn the EDW data into information that the business can use for making decisions. Create reports toay most or one-offs for a single user, group or department. Get more of a drill down environment "executive information dashboard" in the fugure. Currently, guys are working on operational activities, would like to bring in more data into the EDW and need to develop more BI type stuff.
