General Accountant(Cover Maternity Leave) (Toronto)

This position is direct reporting to Accounting Manager in Finance department.
REQUIRE EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
•Education: Accounting Designation or enrolled in professional accounting program. (At least 75% complete) (Not-for-profit an asset)
•Experience: Three to five years of progressive accounting experience.
•Knowledge & skills: Knowledge of computerized accounting systems (Business Dynamics (Solomon) & Tessitura an asset). Detail orientated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills required
JOB SUMMARY
Position is responsible for:
• Monthly reconciliation of bank, clearing and investment accounts.
• Maintenance of the general ledger, analysis of financial data, providing ongoing support to various departments and assisting with budgeting and periodic internal and external reporting.
• Maintaining the books of account for the Walter Carsen Centre Fund, including preparation of periodic management reports, year-end financial statement and schedules for the annual audit.
• Overseeing the project costing system of the Company
(Position requires continuous and ongoing communication with various user departments)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-- Banking:
• Reconcile bank, clearing and investment accounts.
--General Ledger:
• Review detailed departmental income statements for accuracy and completeness
• Review touring activity financial results, including periodic variance analysis
• Provide user departments with assistance and support, including variance analysis of revenue and expenses (excludes payroll)
-- Budgets and Planning:
• Assist/support user departments with the preparation of the detailed annual budget (includes touring)
• Ensure the detailed annual budget is accurately entered into the books of account
• Monitor actual results against budget and prepare variance analysis
• Distribute monthly departmental income statements to user departments

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Continually monitor the system of internal control and assist in developing administrative policy & procedure
• Assist in the preparation of the year-end audit binder and assist auditors during the annual audit
• Assist in the preparation of grant applications and various information returns
• Miscellaneous rental and other sundry invoicing and collections
• Periodic HST returns
• Special projects, as assigned
