Literacy Tutor -- Mentor
135 Neptune drive, Toronto, Ontario
Frontier College is a national, non-profit literacy organization which was founded in 1899. We work with children, teens, adults and families who need help to improve their literacy skills. Through volunteer mobilization, participation, youth leadership development and community capacity building, we enable communities to reach their literacy and learning goals.

You will have the options of:
• Choosing subject(s) and grade(s) that you are most comfortable with
• Helping with learner's literacy skills and homework; or playing various games to improve reading, writing, math, and teamwork skills
• Choosing your days and time
• Assisting with outdoor and recreational activities
Main responsibilities and expectation:
• Attend a volunteer orientation and training session
• Have a patient, open-mind and a flexible attitude
• Help our students build more self-esteem and confidence
• Commitment to the learners and the program
• Communicate closely with supervisor around availability and absences
• Both enjoy and be able to work within a team
Additional Assets
• Ability to demonstrate leadership skills, and be a role model
• Prior experience volunteering in a homework club
• Prior experience of working within a diverse community
