Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Rotating Shift
Performs packaging equipment size-change, repair, preventative maintenance, installation, and modification as needed or requested by the leadership staff.
Job Responsibilities: – Stroke timing and positioning specialist – Implements improvements to improve repeatability and timing of size change procedures. Performs size-change on packaging lines and prepare them for different product formats. – Diagnoses pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic or mechanical problems and completes necessary repairs. Ensure proper documentation of repairs is recorded. – Makes recommendations and implements improvements to equipment for productivity, safety, and regulatory compliance. – Operates various machine shop equipment including: lathes, welding equipment, grinders, and saws for the repairs or modification of packaging equipment. – Ensures that all work is performed according to Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and established safety standards. – Trains new set-up mechanics. – Installs and tests new machinery in the Production and Packaging departments – Performs additional related duties as required.
Job Requirements: *A two or three year community college diploma in mechanical or electro-mechanical disciplines, combined with appropriate hands on experience that demonstrates mechanical aptitude. Or a millwright, machinist, or similar certification along with appropriate industrial experience. *Ability to work independently on improvement projects. *Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, or project management software applications would be an asset *Understanding of programmable logic controlled automation systems.
