Medical Analyst
one temporary (up to 12 months)

The Ministry of Transportation, Driver Improvement Office, is seeking an energetic individual with excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to understand medical guidelines and terminology in order to assess the medical fitness of Ontario drivers.

In this role, you will:
interpret and apply regulations and medical standards for driver compliance
communicate with drivers, staff and officials regarding policies and issues
utilize a case management system to review and evaluate cases
participate on teams to recommend customer service improvements

Location: 1201 Wilson Avenue, Toronto, Ontario

What we are looking for:

Medical and Program Knowledge:
you know medical guidelines and terminology
you understand driver programs, policies and legislation (i.e. Highway Traffic Act, Freedom of Information Protection and Privacy Act, graduated licensing system, etc.)
you stay updated on related activities from government and legislative amendments

Analytical and Computer Skills:
you can research and evaluate medical documents and driving records to determine medical fitness to drive
you can learn driver systems, IceAgent and case management systems and are proficient at office applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Access)
you have keyboarding skills that meet government standards

Communication, Customer Service and Organizational Skills:
you can explain legislation and policies and prepare correspondence
you have customer service and conflict resolution skills to deal with difficult individuals and work with ministry staff from all levels
you are able to organize and prioritize a high-volume workload
you have administrative skills to prepare, assess and send medical documents with confidentiality

Please Note: Prior to the offer of employment and in accordance with the OPS Personnel Screening Checks Policy, the top applicant will be required to undergo personnel screening checks, which includes a police records check.

Salary range: $24.64 -- $28.12 per hour
