***Your Clients, Your Billings

Lawyers at Orange LLP maintain autonomy over business with their clients. For all clients that lawyers bring in due to their own business/marketing efforts, lawyers at Orange LLP keep 100% of any billings.
In this regard, Orange LLP offers a more entrepreneurial opportunity than the more “traditional” law firm and lawyers at Orange LLP do not get paid a salary.
And, yes, if you leave Orange LLP you can take your clients with you.

***Orange LLP Services for Lawyers

In addition to office space and practice billing autonomy, Orange LLP offers:

Receptionist services on weekdays, excluding statutory holidays, 9am to 5pm
Workstation access, individual filing space, phone, e-mail, and wireless internet access in a furnished open office environment
Meeting rooms for client appointments
Bookkeeping and invoicing services for client accounts

Non-equity partners benefits including:
Voting priviledges regarding Orange policy and directives
Full practice autonomy (hours, client management, billings, etc.)
Articling student opportunities
Option to become Equity Partner in the future

***The Orange LLP and Lawyer Relationship:

CLIENTS
Clients acquired through Orange’s marketing efforts will remain Orange’s clients for all matters. Clients acquired solely through the Lawyer’s marketing efforts will remain Lawyer’s clients for matters within Lawyer’s practice area. Upon leaving Orange, the Lawyer may retain clients for matters within Lawyer’s practice area upon written consent by client.

FOR CLIENTS PROVIDED BY ORANGE LLLP
For Client Billings which Orange LLP provides lawyers: If the billlings below $100,000 per year, the Lawyer will be paid 60% of their billable time on paid accounts as billed to client by Orange. For Client Billings above $100,000 compensation will be negotiated depending on Lawyer’s use of Orange resources, however the Lawyer will be paid no less than 75% of their billable time.

EXPENSE SHARING
Lawyers will pay Orange $1,500 per month for basic operating expenses. Funds from Orange’s share of billings will be applied to these expenses such that Lawyer’s compensation remains at 60% for any clients acquired through Orange’s marketing efforts.

AGREEMENT COMMENCEMENT
Lawyers do not have to pay the required $1,500 for the first month and there is no commitment to join Orange LLP. An agreement must be signed after the first month, however, for Lawyers to continue practicing with Orange LLP. This inital period is a ‘trial period’ and is put into place to ensure compatibility.
