Job purpose
Responsible for assisting Festival Programmers with research and solicitation of films for the 2012 Festival, as well as the development of film screenings, special programs, receptions and workshops.
Duties and Responsibilities may include the following
• Assist with the researching and solicitation of Festival films;
• Create and maintain a database for all Festival submissions;
• Update Festival website with film and filmmakers information (e.g. screen shots, biographies, and film synopsis);
• Assist with the planning, coordination, and presentation of film screenings, receptions, events and workshops;
• Maintain regular phone and email contact with the Festival Programmers;
• Create and update all invitations, letters and other correspondences for Festival Programmers;
• Assist with preparation of Festival filmmaker packages (e.g. gathering copies of Program Guides, schedules, award lists & press clippings);
• Organize RSVPs from filmmakers and Programmers to Festival events;
• Assist in creating the film and program schedule for the Festival;
• Assisting in all film screenings during the Festival (e.g. running the projections/DVD players, and cueing the spotlights).
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Front Page, Database management, Photo Shop);
• Strong oral and written communications skills;
• Knowledgeable about the Canadian film and television industry;
• Experience in film, video or digital media production or projection preferable is an asset;
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within and outside of the organization;
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and to work under pressure;
• Experience and understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to work with people from a range of different racial and cultural background;
• Understands the purpose and importance of festivals as related to filmmakers of diversity;
• Comfortable working with executives and VIP guests;
• Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills;
• Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
