- Exceptional technical skills crossing a broad range of applied technology
- The ability to work with minimal supervision on multiple tasks at the same time
- Good observation skills and attention to detail are essential
- Strong Leadership, Communication, Interpersonal and Negotiation Skills
- Ability to grasp complex ideas quickly and make educated, critical judgement in the absence of complete information while under time and cost constraints.
- An understanding of the RUP Methodology, Iterative Development and quality control would be an asset
- Experience & proficiency with SOA Web services, design patterns, BPEL, Portal, JavaEE would be an asset.
- Experience & proficiency using the IBM Toolset - WebSphere Integration Developer (WID), Rational Application Developer (RAD), Mediation & Adapters would be an asset.
- Understanding and ability to apply Best Practices for SOA with the IBM Toolset would be an asset.
- Experience providing guidance to remote development teams would be an asset.
Specific Duties:
- Under general direction is responsible for design and implementation of structural and functional aspects of a system
- Provides leadership in all facets of design quality including functionality, usability, reliability, performance, supportability.
- Supports the integration of products, tools and system activities and provide technical advice on project assignments
- Meets with technical leaders to identify and scope opportunities and identify risks and constraints
- Consults and collaborates with senior project members in the realization and fulfilment of requirements
- Advises, persuades &/or negotiates on problems or situations of a simple to moderately complex nature
- Mentors developers on a project team to ensure they follow the direction provided
- Integrates the design elements assuring both technical and business suitability

Our Client has a need for a number of Software Architects/Designers.
These roles are needed in Moncton, and have start dates of October through December. They will be needed for a minimum of 6 months.
This role identifies and defines the responsibilities, operations, attributes, and relationships of design elements.
Ensures that the design is consistent with the software architecture, and is detailed to a point where implementation can proceed.
The architect/designer may also be the implementer, responsible for design and implementation of software solutions from a structural (subsystem) or functional (use case) perspective. Insurance background is a definite asset.
