INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

My client, an auction company located in Peel region is seeking an achievement driven, detail oriented IT Manager. The individual we are searching for would have a high degree of people skills, able to listen and direct the IT team's activity towards the achievement of the IT goals. He/she will have the ability to create and follow the necessary detailed procedures for success in the IT area of our company. The individual will also have the ability to identify problems before they occur and move effectively to solve them.
The IT Manger is responsible for installing and maintaining computer hardware, software and networks. The successful incumbent manages and provides hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation and recommendations for future planning and development of resources. He/she is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution and control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. He/she is responsible for hiring, mentoring, training, and evaluating IT staff.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Networking

• Assists in the detailed planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to infrastructure.
• Implements and is responsible for network security.
• Oversees the administration and maintenance of the company's infrastructure, and directs more junior Innovators when necessary.
• Oversees the administration of the company's WAN and Domain system.

Telephony

• Manages and develops upgrades to the company's telephone system
• Oversees all telephone changes, including routing for seating assignments.

Training

• Oversees the administration and maintenance of computer stations and software for company training programs and provides additional support when required.

Internal Systems

• Oversees troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and provides expert support where necessary.
• Designs and implements a disaster recovery plan
• Designs and implements Internal Systems.
• Responsible for Website Maintenance and all IT related functions

Asset Management

• Builds and maintains vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software products.
• Manages the purchasing of all software, hardware and other IT supplies
• Ensures that company assets are maintained responsibly
• Extensive knowledge of enterprise core business processes.
- Ability to interpret corporate strategies and translate them into practical project plans.
- Knowledge of IT applications and Client information systems and information flow. Ability to manage IT related project activities including System design, development, implementation and support.

Communication

• Facilitates team meetings effectively.
• Keeps team well informed of changes within the organization and general news.
• Effectively communicates relevant IT-related information to superiors.
• Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
• Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
• Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Management

• Initiates and implements improvements in all areas of IT responsibility.
• Serves as main point of contact on all IT-related matters for the office assigned.
• Responds/acts as part of the leadership team.
• Identifies and provides standards for gathering information for use in trend analysis and reports information to company management
• Developing project scope from concept, creating detailed project plans including schedule and resource requirements.

Client Management

• Manages day-to-day internal client interaction
• Continually seeks opportunities to increase internal client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
Innovator Development

• .Challenges fellow Innovators to progress toward their professional development goals.

Internal Operations

• Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.

Technical Skills

• Certifications -- MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator), MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional ), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Professional),
• Knowledge of deploying apple OS and OS X Server
• Apple OS integration with Windows Domain Environment
• Minimum 2 - 3 years system and networking administration experience in a complex Windows environment working with VMware and database Servers, fileservers and Firewalls, networking hardware
• Strong OS and application knowledge with - 2008 & Active Directory, Windows XP, Windows 7, Exchange 2010, Apple OS X, Network Security, Linux,
• Strong customer support skills and teamwork orientation coupled with enthusiasm, energy, and self-motivation to work independently. - networking protocols: LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, DNS, DHCP, WINS, IIS, FTP, SMTP, NTP, NNTP, TELNET, LDAP, IMAP4, POP3, RIP, PPP, PPTP, SSL, HTTP & HTTPS, Linux/Windows environment including advanced skills with Linux Servers
• Strong knowledge of site to site and gateway VPN's. Knowledge of relay functions, SPAM/antivirus filtering techniques, email archiving, LDAP concepts
• Firewalls -- Checkpoint & Cisco knowledge for setup/configuration/security

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Post secondary education, degree/diploma in Computer Science or related field.
• 2 -- 3 years of IT management experience
• Experience with small, complex organizations.
• Polished professional presence
• Must have vehicle and valid driver's license
• As part of the auction team the incumbent will attend and participate in the management of auctions.
• The position requires the ability to work flexible hours and the ability to work on weekends and holidays.
• Due to the nature and value of the products handled the following background checks will be required: Motor Vehicle Driving Abstract, Credit Report and Criminal Background Report.
