Meat Manager/Floor Manager (North York)

vpi-inc is looking to fill a full-time Meat Manager/ Floor Manager position for a well established wholesale meat company in North York. The successful candidate will work 44 hours per week including weekend shifts and will:
• Prepare wholesale working area for replenishment of meat bunker and self-service area with product.
• Determine stock need and communicate the need to head butcher for cut replenishment.
• Receive product according to wholesale receiving procedures.
• Operate and train for usage of over-wrap machine to restock meat bunker and self-serve area.
• Ensure adequate inventory is available, reporting needed stock to appropriate manager
• Ensure adequate employee staffing to properly service wholesale customers.
• Prepare special orders via computerized terminal system.
• Represent department on the health and safety committee and be health and safety aware.
• Have basic knowledge of store equipment and machinery (coolers, band saws etc.).
Candidates must:
• Be bondable and be able to work flexible hours including weekend shifts.
• Possess knife cutting skills and familiarity with where meat cuts are derived from, and be familiar with meat cuts (T-bone, shoulder steak, top buts etc.).
• Speak, read and write English.
• Have at 2 year experience a meat manager/assistant manager and completed high school or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in Canada.
Starting Salary: To be negotiated based on experience.
