Women's Healthy Environments Network (WHEN) - Action for Prevention
Seeking Treasurer for our Board of Directors
WHEN is currently seeking to fill the position of Treasurer on the Board of Directors.
WHEN is a non-profit, charitable organization that works with communities on prevention initiatives addressing environmental links to health. We focus not only on the issues but the solutions, advocating for change. Visit our website (www.womenshealthyenvironments.ca) to find out more about us.
WHEN is looking for somebody to:
- Produce monthly income statements and report to the Board on WHEN's financial position.
- Advise and review record-keeping and documentation carried out by Office Coordinator.
- Liaise with Finance Advisory Committee and Office Coordinator to ensure that all tax and CRA requirements are managed and met in order to maintain charitable status.
- Ensure appropriate insurance policies are in place and timely payments made to meet Board activity requirements.
- Establish budgets and revenue models as needed.
- Participate as one more Director on the Board to carry out the WHEN's mission.
If you are a woman looking for an opportunity to:
- Promote awareness about the links between our environment and our health
- Work on a functioning board with a team of dedicated, sophisticated volunteers
- Provide leadership in administration, and the design and implementation of projects
And are able to:
- Attend monthly Board meetings (one evening per month at the Centre for Social Innovation, downtown Toronto)
- Commit to a two-year term
- Share Board responsibilities with other Directors (average two hours per week)

Our History
Since its inception in 1994, Women's Healthy Environments Network has been educating the general public, media, and policy makers about the fact that environmental health is a key determinant of public health. WHEN actively promotes the primary prevention of health conditions that are linked to the deteriorating quality of our environment. Our programs stimulate dialogue and foster greater awareness, aiming to empower people to make informed choices toward personal and policy change.
