Employee Relations Advisor (Toronto )

Our client, a leading financial institution, is currently seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to join their expanding and dynamic team. The individual will be responsible for providing guidance and counselling on various matters relating to the workplace while complying with all relevant employment legislation.
Responsibilities include:
• Coaching and advising Managers on employee relations matters, including performance, attendance, conflicts, progressive discipline, termination, and day-to-day employee relations issues
• Handling, investigating and resolving employee issues, concerns, and complaints
• Developing, interpreting, analyzing and making recommendations to HR policies and programs
• Monitoring changes in employment legislation and recommending policy changes as needed
• Drafting and formulating relevant correspondence within the realm of employee relations and/or human resources
• Tracking and maintaining employee relations metrics and reporting
• Evaluating the effectiveness of HR and/or employee relations programs
• Providing support and/or involvement on committees and projects, as required
Qualifications:
• University degree in a related field and 4 to 6 years of employee relations experience
• Strong knowledge of employment standards and human rights legislation, including variances by provinces
• Skilled in dealing with workplace behaviour issues and practices
• Highly developed communication, investigative and analytical skills
• Ability to provide informal coaching to individuals at all levels and influence as appropriate
• CHRP designation would be an asset
• Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code would be an asset
• Bilingual (French and English) would be an asset
