Position Description
Title: Family Resource Centre Facilitator
Report to: Associate Director, Programs
Status: Full time, 30hrs weekly Application Deadline: August 19th 2011
Position Summary: To create and deliver quality programs and services for families and children ages 0-6 years in a welcoming, stimulating, and safe environment. The Family Resource Centre Program Facilitator will facilitate the activities in the Family Resource Centre and will assist the Associate Director, in the promotion/planning of various activities and events for the Family Resource Centre
Responsibilities:
•To operate the drop-in within the operating criteria set out by Toronto Children's Services
•Prepare monthly program calendars, materials and daily logs
•Purchase and prepare snacks for Program
•Provide individual support and follow-up with clients, where appropriate
•Attend workshops and training sessions as required
•Provide appropriate guidance, information and direction to parents/caregivers.
•Implement and carry out an outreach plan (which includes working with volunteers to promote the Centre's activities.
•Communicate regularly with participants for input into programming planning and evaluation
•Encourage participants to develop links with Community groups that represent their interests and promote individual and group development
•To plan and implement a daily program to meet the developing needs of pre-school children
•Assumes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
•CPR and First Aid certification
•Public Health Food Handler's Certificate or Student Nutrition Food Handlers
•Experience or knowledge of any of the following areas: child development, infant/child health, parenting, mother self-care, behaviour management, parent and child interaction is an asset
•Experience facilitating groups and providing individual support in a community based setting
•Ability to work within a team setting which supports diversity and inclusion
•Police reference check
Preferred Qualifications:
•ECE,ECA or equivalent (background in social services)
