Lead the technical design, development and integration of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES:
Working with wide range of internal and external contacts and a highly skilled team of technical and business experts, the Advisory Application Developer will be involved in planning, analysis, design, and implementation activities on a multi-tier environment.
Evaluate and provide POC solutions on new tools, technologies and concepts.
Actively support adoption of new tools and technologies.
Design application's technical infrastructure, such as specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches.
Design and/or integrate solutions for the processing of data and development of precise steps and processing logic across all platforms.
Provide broad understanding of platforms and applications across all technologies.
Translate user requirements to process and data requirements. Ensure the designed specifications achieve business needs.
Provide coaching, mentoring and guidance
Responsibilities:
Using leading edge technologies the candidate will:
Participate in standardization of design and software engineering practices & techniques.
Recommend process and/or development improvements for Distribution Technology Sales Development team
Investigation into strategic, tactical, and architectural directions for suite of sales applications in DT Sales portfolio.
Plan, analyze and design in support of project initiatives
Lead the Service Delivery team to investigate and provide solutions for reported production problems
Provide high level design for development and implement system enhancements
Estimating project work effort where new technology is involved and no guidelines exist.
Acquire solid business knowledge in assigned application programs and information technologies.
Remain current on leading edge technologies and how they can be applied to existing and future projects
Coach / mentor junior staff.
Participate in and/or conducting medium to high complexity evaluations for product releases and stand alone products
Requirements:
Extensive work experience:
Strong knowledge in Java development environments and Java language, J2EE, JCA, JMS, JDBC, Swing and web applications, SOAP and web services
In-depth understanding of software design, strong knowledge of application architecture
Strong knowledge in UML, Design Patterns
Decision-Making and Critical Thinking--Knowledge of tools and techniques for effective use of a broad range of factors, assumptions, frameworks and perspectives when solving problems.
Application Design, Architecture--Knowledge of and experience with activities, tools and techniques for converting business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
Application Delivery Process--Knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, formal methodologies and disciplines for delivering new or enhanced applications
Interpersonal Relationships--Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Strong understanding in SDLC, RUP. Comparative knowledge about XP, RAD, Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Database modeling, tuning, design, normalization, stored procedures in Oracle and SQL Server
Debug and troubleshooting skills are essential
Work experience:
UNIX (Solaris) knowledge, shell scripting
Knowledge about enterprise application integration
Knowledge about peripherals and devices and about software integration with devices (swipe devices or other)
Financial industry experience
Good organization, planning and solid management skills.
Time management skills.
