JOB SUMMARY:
Leisureworld Caregiving Centre – Rockcliffe is home to 204 residents and currently has an opening for a Part-Time/Casual Dietary Aide. The initial assignment does not have a specified number of hours bi-weekly, subject to change based on the operational needs or under the discretion of the manager.

As a valued member of the team, the Dietary Aide demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with organization’s vision and mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES (But not limited to):
• Assisting in ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, which effects the operation of the dietary department.
• Assisting the Cook to prepare and serve meals.
• Ensuring that nursing home and dietary department polices and procedures are followed.
• Ensuring that work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Obtaining food and supplies from storerooms.
• Assisting in the receiving, checking and storing of incoming supplies.
• Assisting with and washing of dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils, pots and pans.
• Attending in-service education sessions as directed.
• Assisting in the orientation of new dietary staff.
• Providing assistance to residents as required.
• Setting and cleaning of dining areas
• Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have Food Handler Certificate.
• Must be familiar with the correct procedure for service and handling of food.
• Must be familiar with safe food handling techniques.
• Ability to operate institutional cooking equipment, for example, dishwasher, conveyor toaster, and meat-slicer.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Able to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents, staff and visitors.
• Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills.

EDUCATION:
• Successful completion of a Food Service Worker training program at an established college as listed in the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 or a registered private career college in Ontario.
• Must have High School diploma.
