JOB SUMMARY:
Leisureworld Caregiving Centre – Lawrence is home to 224 residents and currently has an opening for a Permanent Part-Time Nurse Manager. The initial assignment is for 30 hours bi-weekly, subject to change based on the operational needs or under the discretion of the manager.
As a valued member of the team, the Nurse Manager demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with organization’s vision and mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES (But not limited to):
• Monitoring and evaluation of unit staff compliance with facility and service policies and procedures.
• Liaising with other services in the facility.
• Preparing written performance appraisals for all unit staff on assigned shift.
• Serve on committees, which affect the service.
• Discipline of staff according to facilities policies and procedures.
• Participating in programs to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of nursing services provided by the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 3 years geriatric and management experience.
• Sound nursing knowledge in geriatric care and in nursing administration.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation governing the long-term care sector, for example, Long Term Care Homes Act, Residents’ Bill of Rights, employment standards.
• Demonstrates an understanding of current trends and concepts relative to professional nursing.
• Ability to direct, instruct, and evaluate employees.
• Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills.
EDUCATION:
• Current registration as a registered nurse or registered practical nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Degree or diploma from an accredited university or college in Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.
• Current BCLS certificate an asset.
• Current Medication Administration Certificate, which meets the College of Nurses Standards of Practice, if applicable.
