Senior Bookeeper (Toronto)

Scope of Position:
The Rostie Group is looking for an experienced Bookeeper to join our Accounting team. The Senior Bookeeper will be involved and asked to assist with auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, providing information regarding accounting practices and procedures, a wide variety of accounting duties in the processing and maintenance of the company?s financial system, under direction of the controller.
Duties and responsibilities include:
o Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing and operational use, including:
o Reconciling bank accounts, records, reports and journals
o Preparing financial statements, schedules and reports
o Preparation of timely reporting for executive staff
o Accounts receivable and Collections
o Payroll
o Benefits administration
oTax preparation and remittance; including, source deductions, WSIB, GST and PST
Education / Experience:
o C.G.A. designation or minimum completion of 3rd year CGA Course
o Proficient in Simply Accounting and Quickbooks
o Experienced user of Microsoft Office
o Excellent verbal and written communication
o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
o Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail
o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
o Team player, self-motivated
o Experience with multiple related companies and inter-company transactions as asset
Complexity / Analysis: The employee is expected to perform analytical tasks with a high degree of complexity. The candidate should be able to analyze reports for accuracy, and systems to advise when they are not meeting current requirements.
Direction Received: Work is performed under the general supervision of the controller. Ability to plan and manage work with minimum direction.
Accountability: The employee is accountable to the controller and executive staff as required.
Decision Making: Decisions will be related to items within the direct scope of the employee's job description, all project-based decisions are subject to approval of the direct manager.
Supervisory / Managerial: There is no supervisory/managerial component to this position.
Other: Additional duties required on an as-needed basis as requested.
