Manage the development of an Ontario-wide online marketplace for consumers and businesses to source local, Ontario-grown food. The marketplace will be an expansion and evolution of the Greenbeltfresh.ca website. This website will be a key tool in the successful implementation of the Greenbelt Fund, a promotional program focused on significantly increasing the procurement of local, Ontario-grown food.
Main Responsibilities:
• Assess strengths, weaknesses and challenges of Greenbeltfresh.ca and similar websites operating in other jurisdictions. Compile baseline information and set benchmarks for what a successful Ontario website would look like and achieve
• Work with a web design company to develop and execute a consultation process that will adequately inform the development of Ontariofresh.ca
• Conduct a series of consultations with potential users of the website such as businesses, farmers, farmers’ market managers, consumers and others
• Determine the feasibility of including and ecommerce applications within Ontariofresh.ca
• Oversee a web design team to develop and test site with users
• Develop and coordinate an outreach strategy to ensure a high volume of farmers and farmers’ markets establish business profiles on Ontariofresh.ca
• Engage and build working relationships with all stakeholders in the local food system including but not limited to advocates; food processors, food distributors, farm groups; and, key food procurement businesses in Ontario, to provide ongoing support to the development of Ontariofresh.ca and an enable an evaluation of its success
• Collaborate with communication staff to develop and execute a marketing and promotion strategy for Ontariofresh.ca
• Oversee activities to evaluate the success of Ontariofresh.ca
• Monitor and oversee the maintenance and updating of Ontariofresh.ca and all communication with users, farmers and other stakeholders
• Manage a Program Assistant for the project/program
• Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports
• Conduct all other duties as directed by the President and Program Director
Qualifications:
• Significant project management experience
• Knowledge of website design and functionality
• Highly organized individual that can deliver on deadlines
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Experience in managing expectations and evaluating outcomes
• Knowledge of the local food system and/or food procurement issues is desired
• Experience in working as part of a project team
• 5+ years experience
