Media Relations and Communications Manager
Greenbelt Fund
The Media Relations and Communications Manager will work with the Program Director on the overall marketing of the Greenbelt Fund and manage all the media and communication activities for the Greenbelt Fund, a promotional program focused on significantly increasing the procurement of local, Ontario-grown food. Develop and execute a Local Food Heros awards program that will celebrate and motivate local food procurement.
Main Responsibilities:
• Announce all new Greenbelt Fund grants to the trade and mainstream media
• Develop a Greenbelt Fund communications plan from strategic priorities to tactics to measurement
• Develop a media plan that communicates Greenbelt Fund messages, expectations and outcomes; and include an evaluation plan for measuring outcomes
• Manage the design, development and dissemination of marketing materials
• Oversee all media opportunities to communicate key grant activities, events and accomplishments
• Work with grantees to collaborate on/approve communication strategies and materials and ensure these support the goals of the Greenbelt Fund
• Oversee the release of the annual Greenbelt Fund Support Card including design, writing and printing
• Work with the communication staff to ensure successful publication of reports
• Develop relationships with relevant reporters, editors, producers and columnists etc. in print, television, radio and online media, both mainstream and trade
• Maintain media lists and oversee media tracking and reports on media presence
• Manage social media efforts for the Greenbelt Fund
• Develop and execute a program that will acknowledge success stories and individuals who have increased local food procurement
• Conduct all other duties as assigned by the President and the Program Director
Qualifications:
• Strategic planning, marketing and communications background
• Media relations experience including the writing and pitching of press releases
• Writing and communication skills including marketing materials and publications
• Public communication skills
• Organizational and event management skills
• Experience in working as part of a project team
• Knowledge of agriculture and/or food procurement issues is helpful
• 8+ years experience
