Bilingual Social Media Web Editor (Mississauga, Ontario)

Media Web Editor.? (This is a new position!) Use your communication skills, web page savvy and Social Media passion to use the power of the internet to spread news information and ideas.

Position Summary:
We are looking for will manage our leading edge Renewable Energy Web Page.? This web Page will highlight our BlueWay Sustainability Initiative which focuses in the fields of recycling, energy savings and renewable energy.
The goal of the Social Media Web Editor is to acquire meaningful, high-quality content that has wide appeal and achieves high public visibility.? The Social Media Editor will be responsible for all information on the BlueWay site while inviting writers and contributors to provide timely content, searches for existing content, edits the content to fit the tone and style, writes compelling headlines and blurbs, and publishes to the BlueWay site.?
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain site focus and tone on sustainability principles and practices, including recycling, energy savings and renewable energy for the industrial, commercial, residential, government, and utility verticals.
- Develop formats for presenting content including breaking news, blog commentary, commissioned pieces, shared articles, in-house writing, re-posting, etc.
- Make article selection decisions based on input from the Editorial Board
- Manage all internal and external stakeholders and contributors
- Maintain a regular publishing schedule and set and enforce deadlines
- Obtain and manage relevant publishing permission rights
- Edit all BlueWay content to conform to BlueWay guidelines, enhance readability, fact-check, and guard against liability exposure
- Acquire and post photos, videos, and other graphics to complement postings
- Prepare final article drafts for layout and publishing
- Write eyeball-attracting headlines, introductions, and blurbs to attract a wide readership
- Encourage other organizations and websites to disseminate BlueWay content and share outside content
- Moderate comments or online dialogues and forward queries to relevant subject matter experts
- Maintain the BlueWay subscription list
- Track all site analytics and capitalize on traffic trends and content popularity
- Report weekly on all aspects of the project to Management
- Liaise with outside agencies on site optimization, marketing strategy, and programs
- Maintain the site’s content management system (Wordpress)
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of multiple facets of online journalism/?news/?commentary
- Excellent editing and writing skills
- Solid understanding of current affairs, environmental issues and sustainability topics
- Basic understanding of the electrical industry and products would be an asset
- Adept with web interface programs and Content Management Systems (we use Wordpress)
- Proficient with design software (Photoshop)
- Must be Well organized, flexible, and quick minded along with prior experience with juggling multiple, deadline-driven tasks.?
- Meticulous about accuracy and grammar
- Excellent Internet research skills
Educational Requirements:
- University degree preferred; English, Journalism, Communications, Environmental Studies, etc.
- French (bi-lingual) is required
- Strong PC & Office software skills is essential
- Solid understanding of Graphical Software is required (Photoshop, Adobe)
- Strong Web & Social Media skills are essential
Prior Experience:
- Bilingual (French) work experience is mandatory
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years business related duties
- Working experience in either a Communication or Marketing Department
- Working knowledge in Social Media,
- Copy writing experience is an asset
- 2 to 3 years experience in Project Management is required
- Database management experience is recommended
- Experience developing & presenting system reports is required
- Demonstrated experience in use of Social Networking tools-twitter, Face book, etc.? to promote business objectives.
- Experience in working with Web analytics & Web strategies is required
