Assistant Financial Controller - Bermuda
On behalf of our insurance industry client in Bermuda, we're seeking an experienced Chartered Accountant to join their Finance team on the Island.
Duties include:
- Preparation of financial statements to Canadian GAAP/IFRS standards, including supporting schedules, notes and reconciliations
- Preparation of management accounts and variance analysis
- Supervision and development of accounting staff
- Maintenance of internal controls and business processes
- Preparation of statutory filings for the Bermuda Monetary Authority and other regulators
- Communications with auditors, actuaries, and bankers
Requirements:
- Eligibility for or membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda
- Three years' post-qualifying experience in the life insurance industry, or commensurate experience with a major international public accounting firm
- Two years' experience in a supervisory role
- Superior MS Office skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly motivated and committed to a hands on position, with an ability to work additional hours to meet deadlines
- Experience in a multi-system environment, for example MS Dynamics, AS 400, and Wynsure
This is a full-time position in Bermuda that requires relocating to the Island for an initial term of 2-3+ years (renewable subject to work permit approval). Due to the international move required, candidates should be highly portable, able to relocate fairly quickly and be adaptable to living and working in a small subtropical Island environment.
A competitive and nearly tax-free (maximum 5.75% payroll tax) compensation package will be offered to the successful candidate including relocation assistance and health benefits.
