Mac/Linux Help Desk/Desktop Support (Toronto - Beaches)

The position will provide helpdesk support in a fast-paced environment, working closely with artists, department heads, in-house producers and managing partners, in order to resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner. This position will report to the Senior Systems Administrator.
Requirements:
- Very strong OSX support & configuration skills.
- Strong Linux desktop support & configuration skills.
- Comfortable troubleshooting workstation hardware. (CPU, Ram, HD, Video, etc..)
- Basic shell scripting ability an asset (bash, python)
- Some basic Windows knowledge is necessary.
- Familiar with wired & wireless networking.
- Superior time management and prioritization skills
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong english communication skills.
Responsibilities Include:
- Helpdesk: Quickly responding to, researching, and troubleshooting user problems and questions.
- Tracking of support issues via ticket system
- Prep and maintain workstations for staff & freelance employees.
- Assist in render wrangling and troubleshooting of rendering issues.
- Configure and support peripherals (wi-fi, printers, wacom tablets, etc.)
- Tracking of phyisical assets, maintain systems inventory database.
- Write knowledge base articles and contribute to technical policies and procedures documentation
- Maintain organized workspaces, hardware, software
- Some lifting and “facility” type duties will be required.
- Other systems administration type duties as appropriate
This is a contract position. Some evenings/weekends may be required. Expectations will be high and the workload can be intense at times. This is a great “foot-in-the-door” type entry-level position leading to a career in Systems Administration in the visual effects and animation industry.
