Infrastructure Security Specialist (Kingston, Ontario)

Job Description
Develop a risk framework to ensure high availability, scalability and efficient IT infrastructure security. Implements/audits security requirements for existing and future networks to identify vulnerabilities, detect intrusions, respond to incidents, monitor threats and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) activities. Conducts security compliance evaluations on systems and networking equipment. Recommends the proper use of infrastructure resources to minimize security vulnerabilities while maintaining required levels of service.
General Skills:
• Practical working knowledge of privacy and security regulations, trends and issues and understanding their impact on business and IT operations
• Knowledge of interpretation and communication of regulations and compliance requirements
• Extensive knowledge in implementing and integrating technologies
• Experience in conducting security and business continuity risk assessments
• Experience in developing physical security strategies (i.e. building security, lockdown of laptops)
• Knowledge and understanding of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and IT Service
• Management (ITSM) Knowledge and understanding of data flow diagrams and business process diagrams
• Knowledge of risk management and assessment methodologies
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and business audiences
• Knowledge of IT security technologies with a conceptual understanding of the interrelationships employed in a distributed environment
• Ability to understand the business implications of current and future decisions and
• Knowledge and understanding of disaster recovery planning
• May be assigned to support other ministry initiatives
Desirable Skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of current IT security industry and trends, best practices, solutions, and issues
• Knowledge and understanding of design and implementation of IT infrastructure
• Knowledge of (OPS) IT applications and services
Deliverables:
1) Public Key Infrastructure [PKI] certification security for telephone registry and Care Connector applications.
2) Enhancements to telephone registry and Care Connector applications
(a) The ability to link families who register together. This will also facilitate address and SDM updates if required.
(b) An online script for PARs to facilitate patient registration.
3) Implement two factor authentication for the 1-800 registration and CCAC care connector applications
