Bel Ami is a hair accessories company producing handcrafted headbands and hair pins, which can be purchased at several retailers across the city, including: Kitsch Boutique (Forest Hill Village), Divine Decadence (Yorkville), Catherine Curtis (Summerhill), Putti (Rosedale), and Hefter Collection (Hazelton Lanes). Bel Ami also produces custom headbands for Bishop Strachan School (the oldest private day and boarding school for girls in Canada).

Job Title: FASHION DESIGN INTERN
Job Responsibilities:
-Reproducing sample headpieces using industrial sewing machines, and
embellishing headpieces by hand (using ribbon to make detailed bows, attaching buttons and crystals, freshwater pearls, and feathers)
-Hand rolling silk, satin, and chiffon flowers and securing them to headbands and hair clips
-Applying finishing touches to headpieces, including: attaching bel ami labels to each piece, and applying fray preventer to raw edges.
-Organizing headband supplies
-Packaging orders and labeling orders to be sent out
-Composing invoices for each order
Candidate Competencies:
Candidates would be expected to be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine, have a keen interest in fashion accessories, be able to efficiently and accurately reproduce a sample, and have the desire to learn about how a new Toronto fashion company operates. Interns would be able to work flexible hours, and have the ability to create their own hairpieces once orders have been produced, and have access to the Resource Room at Toronto Fashion Incubator.
