Annual Fund Coordinator (Toronto, ON)

One of the most distinguished musical institutions in the country, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, in its 88th season in 2009-2010, is an essential element of Toronto’s cultural fabric. The TSO has an annual budget of $23 million, is resident at Roy Thomson Hall, and presents about 140 concerts and education programmes each year to an audience of over 200,000 patrons and 100,000 students.
Annual Fund Coordinator Position:
The Annual Fund Coordinator works on a portfolio of direct mail, on-line, and telesales campaigns to raise approximately $1 million each season. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Development Operations & Annual Giving and works alongside a Donor Services Representative.
Annual Fund Coordinator Responsibilities:
• Plans and implements the Friends Annual Fund program through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of members.
• Writes and edits donor solicitation and thank you letters, and donor- focused content for the TSO website, newsletter, and concert programmes
• Oversees the acknowledgment and recognition of all annual fund gifts
• Coordinates cultivation events such as backstage tours and open rehearsals
• Works with the development team to ensure coordination with their fundraising efforts.
• Uses development database (Paciolan) and report writing software to process donations and retrieve data.
• Ensures that donor and gift information is entered in the database accurately and efficiently.
• Uses statistics to evaluate current Annual Fund Friends programs, assess effectiveness, and make recommendations for program changes.
• Thinks out of the box and makes quick recommendations in a very fluid environment.
Experience & Qualifications:
• University degree or equivalent professional experience
• 3-4 years of experience in the role of Annual Fund Coordinator
• Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Must have the ability to take initiative and ownership of specific annual fund initiatives
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to organize and juggle multiple tasks
• Must have good decision-making and judgment skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Collaborative and energetic individual
• Interest in and knowledge of the arts, particularly classical music, will be considered an asset
Starting salary: $34,000 per annum plus benefits
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends is required. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra provides a collegial work environment and opportunities for advancement and professional development.
