Plant Manager

Company: One of the largest U.S. based wire and cable manufacturers is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Plant Manager. The position will be located at the company’s Canadian manufacturing site in a small city located about an hour east of Toronto. The company is known for its long history, innovation within its industry and providing high quality products in their marketplace.

Position: Reporting to the Vice President of Operations (located in the U.S.), broad responsibilities will include ensuring overall effective and efficient operation of the manufacturing operation including but not limited to: production, planning, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, quality and facilities. The incumbent will drive to implement lean manufacturing principles and processes throughout the organization and ensure that key personnel obtain Lean Blackbelt Certification. Other responsibilities will include achieving required plant key performance indicator targets including safety incidence rate, quality DPM, scrap percentage, customer satisfaction, positive budget variance, manufacturing lead times and inventory turns.

Requirements: The position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in engineering (Master’s Degree preferred) along with 10+ years of general management experience (including at least 5 years in a leadership role) in a manufacturing environment. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies is required. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills along with strong organizational and problem solving skills are required. The incumbent should also be as comfortable on the shop floor as in the boardroom and able to communicate effectively in both environments. The incumbent should also have the ability to communicate and interact at all levels of the organization and have the demonstrated ability to lead and mentor direct reports.
