Payroll Analyst (North York (Yonge & Sheppherd))

Located in North York, Ontario Vale Inco is launching it's newly formed Shared Services Organization to improve the flow and quality of internal support services such as Procurement, Finance and Human Resources to Vale's companies' throughout North America.
We are searching for a:
Payroll Analyst (4 to 6 month contract with the strong possibility of extension)
The Payroll Analyst will work within the North American Shared Services Organization processing standardized transactions for Vale Inco's North American payrolls.
The ideal candidate for will have five or more years of experience in a similar capacity and previous hands-on experience with PeopleSoft. Preference will be given to candidates who have advanced Microsoft Excel skills along with exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
Significant travel will be required for the initial 2-3 months.
Accountabilities:
The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of Vale Inco North American Payrolls utilizing the company's payroll systems.
In this role, the incumbent will liaise with, and remit to, government agencies (i.e. Federal, Provincial and State) with respect to withholding taxes and other non-statutory payroll related deductions as directed by government legislation. Ensuring timely completion of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
The Analyst will respond to employee queries with respect to changes made in their pay that have not been initiated by them as a result of; legislative change, company policy/benefits, collective bargaining agreements, etc.
The Analyst will exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in maintaining critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.
The candidate is responsible for providing the highest quality of customer service to the payroll clients of the North American Shared Services Organization.
Education:
Business degree/diploma, required.
Certification or program enrolment in the either of the Canadian Payroll Association's certification programs, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), would be considered an asset.
Experience:
Full In-house Payroll processing experience and knowledge of payroll related legislation would be preferred.
Familiarity with the shared services model or, prior experience in a shared services environment would be considered an asset.
Experience processing payroll within a unionized work environment would be preferred.
