Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Commissioner, Community & Health Services is responsible for a very large and diverse department (1500+ employees) and for providing leadership and strategic direction in social services, housing, long term care, public health, emergency medical services, accessibility and human services planning. The Commissioner is also responsible for business planning and budgets in these areas; ensuring that departmental programs and services are able to respond to the needs of the community while providing strategic advice to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Council on matters affecting the Region’s social and public health outlook.
