Position: Technical Writer
Location: Toronto
Contract: 5 Months +
Rate: $75hr
Demonstrated experience developing and editing technical, business and user documentation within a controlled document and change management framework, including (but not limited to):
• Functional and technical specifications
• User documentation
• Privacy and policy documentation
• Business cases
• Procurement documents
• Statements of Work
• Agreements
• Presentations
• Project charters
• Business requirements
• Sufficient technical background to quickly and effectively understand and capture input from technical subject matter experts (SMEs), and to create and edit related complex technical illustrations.
• Demonstrated capability to carry out content research and create substantial first draft documents.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage changes from multiple reviewers in a single document.
• Expertise in editing documentation for consistency in document content, structure and format.
• Expert knowledge of and experience with documentation tools, and specifically, in-depth experience with Microsoft Office, including MS Word template development and use, change tracking and version control.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with SnagIt, Visio and other image capture and editing software.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with document conversion and collation using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• Experience with knowledge and/or document management systems (naming conventions, version control, etc.).
• Experience publishing documentation on line, and using collaboration tools including Microsoft SharePoint.
• Highly proficient in the English language with excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and with a history for meeting deadlines.
