Summary
The HR Generalist will directly support the Operations Manager and be responsible for the recruitment, safety administration including WSIB and return to work administration as well as general support of Human Resources activities within the centre as they relate to policy, procedure, and program administration.
Accountabilities:
Recruitment
• Assists in the planning, approval and implementation of staffing needs, recruitment strategies, posting/advertising, sourcing, screening and applicant pool development, applicant tracking, selection support, reference checking and job offer creation.
• Sources, screens and interviews candidates making recommendations to management
• Coordinates and conducts general orientation
WSIB and Return to Work
• Administers WSIB and Occupational Health & Safety programs
• Monitors, verifies and authorizes routine personnel actions and requests pertaining to existing employees and new hires, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Administers the payroll and benefit paperwork for new and existing employees
Employee Relations
• Serves as the initial point of advice, problem resolution, and facilitation in the area of employee relations, performance management, and employee discipline. Escalates complicated employee relations issues to the HR Manager.
• Advises both employees and management regarding employee relations policies and procedures, association/contract terms and conditions
Policy & Procedure
• Provides client group with clear and concise interpretation of human resources policy and procedure
• Undertakes research into operating and corporate policy and procedure issues as required and participates as appropriate in the revision of operating and corporate policy and procedures
Qualifications
• University Degree or completion of a College Diploma Program in Human Resources. CHRP designation would be an asset.
• One to two years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist role
• Experience with full cycle recruiting required
• Experience with WSIB required
• Experience with return to work programs a definite asset
• Vehicle along with current driver's license required for travel within the geographic district.
