Hours of Work: Monday to Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm.
Description:
Looking for an experienced and talented Senior Policy Analyst to join the team of experienced policy development staff. The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for managing projects on behalf of Canada’s home, car and business insurers that are designed to bring insurers’ perspective to the public policy agenda. Working in collaboration with industry leaders, senior government officials and other stakeholders, the Senior Policy Analyst will facilitate the development of consensus positions, and help shape and influence provincial and federal policies and legislation. This full-time position is based in Toronto and may involve travel across Canada.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct advanced economic and financial analysis to support the industry’s advocacy objectives.
• Inform and influence decision-makers by responding to public policy inquiries.
• Development and implementation of strategies to achieve industry objectives, securing changes in policy by managing projects.
• Development of policy papers and other materials.
Requirements:
• 5 -7 years’ experience in policy development in the public or private sector,
• Master’s degree in economics, political science or a related discipline
• A broad understanding of and perspective on business – ideally, the financial sector.
• A Finance or Accounting designation, ability to work in French, and industry experience would be considered assets.
• Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills – including the ability to express himself/herself articulately and persuasively – and the ability to work effectively with senior industry executives.
