Description
We are looking for a hard-working, enthusiastic student to join Team Clarity as our IT Specialist (co-op). This is an excellent work term opportunity for a student who wants to apply their technical skills and knowledge in a fast paced and fast growing software company. You must be able to communicate well with all levels within the company; have the ability to multi-task, and take initiatives in servicing our employees in network, server and PC support.
Scope of Role
Provide a high degree of service in network, server and PC support to all employees
Handle requests in a timely manner
Ensure all support requests are documented, tracked and resolved
Job Responsibilities
Provide technical support for Windows XP/2000/2003 in an Ethernet environment
Diagnose and solve network, hardware and software problems
Install operating systems, software and peripherals for laptops
Use Norton Ghost to create or deploy laptop images
Set up laptops for off-site training and load container for shipment
Create Windows Server environments using VMWare and Microsoft Virtual technologies
Maintain the network infrastructure including ISP connectivity, Hubs, Switches
Control access to the server and storage rooms
Control access to software CD's, computers, projectors and other equipment
Maintain accurate inventory of software and hardware
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Excellent knowledge of PC hardware, laptops, servers, laser printers and network components (Switches, Hubs, NIC’s and Routers)
Working knowledge of network topologies using TCP/IP
Good understanding of Windows operating systems, and applications such as Microsoft Office 2000/XP/2003/2007, VMWare Player, VMWare Workstation, VMWare ESX Server, Virtual PC, Virtual Server 2005
Good understanding of relational databases such as Oracle, DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server
Good knowledge of HTML, VB Script and Java Script
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work in a team environment and to handle requests from multiple supervisors
Ability to prioritize tasks and to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines
Ability to maintain accurate records
