Technical Architect - Symantec/Veritas NetBackup and Unix
Location: Toronto
Positions & Type: Opening for Two with Perm and Salary up to 100K
Reports to: Project Manager/Systems Architect
My client has been in business for over 25 years and has evolved to become a leading Systems Integrator in its field of networked storage. They provide data architecture, backup, and recovery solutions to the Telecommunications, Financial, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing and Government sectors. Their headquarters are located in Ottawa with branch offices in Toronto and Montreal.
Main responsibilities:
-Provide consulting, design, and/or implementation support for data storage and protection
-To provide technical services including installation and support for customers in a highly complex data storage environment
-Works closely with sales, technical services and support group, external vendor partners, and the customer to ensure a smooth implementation and transition
-Provide general sales support for products and services, such as demonstrations, proposal preparation and bid responses
- Develop document installation and operation procedures
- Implement solutions in accordance to corporate standards and as per Statement of Work
This position would be based out of the Toronto office and would provide support to customers in the GTA area and Southern Ontario.
Mandatory skills required:
-Minimum 6 yrs hands-on experience (installation and support) in one or more
of the following disciplines
-backup and recovery software
-tape technology
-RAID storage products
-SAN fibre architecture
-Must have excellent skills in Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX) and/or Windows
-Must have excellent experience with Symantec/Veritas NetBackup products
-Excellent knowledge of networking technologies
-Experience working with storage products on a variety of open systems
-Excellent analytical abilities, resulting in problem resolution
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to work independently
-BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Experience or skills with the following a plus:
-High performance storage subsystems and SAN technologies; IP SAN; iSCSI, NAS
