Eva's Initiatives - General Manger, Eva's Phoenix (Downtown Toronto)

Eva’s Initiatives is an innovative and rapidly expanding organization, which operates three shelters and a wide range of programs for homeless and at risk youth aged 16-24. We are currently seeking a General Manager who will be responsible for the leadership and management of Eva’s Phoenix. The programs at Eva’s Phoenix are on the cutting edge of program development and service delivery. This is an exciting and challenging senior management position requiring a highly skilled and resourceful person equipped with the ability to effectively manage a wide range of issues and tasks simultaneously. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
• A Masters degree with four years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience, with a background in not-for-profit management and leadership in the social services sector. Progressive responsibility with youth, mentorship, housing supports, employment, training, training supports, and social enterprise preferred. Other relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation such as Shelter Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, ESA, Privacy Legislation, Human Rights Code, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
• Strong supervisory experience in a unionized environment with the ability to hire, train, mentor, supervise, develop and discipline staff.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and management and to work flexibly and effectively.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.
• Strong financial background with proven effectiveness in budgeting and financial planning.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to both influence and represent the interests of various groups.
• Demonstrated public relations and community development skills, including partnership development and maintenance.
• Ability to manage stress and effect change in a diverse and challenging environment.
• Access to a vehicle and on-call availability.
