Job Description – Technical Writer & Consultant
Positions: Full time and contracts

Responsibilities:

As a member of a team, provide exceptional customer service to the firm’s clients by providing timely and responsive consulting services.
• Perform or assist in technical interviews and ensure all essential technical information required is gathered for the preparation of the technical descriptions.
• Differentiate between routine operations and genuine experimentation in order to identify qualifying activities and projects. Applying a methodology based upon specific facts and dates is essential.
• Prepare technical descriptions for the T661 tax form on or before agreed upon deadlines; concisely presenting technical content, context, rational, and arguments for eligibility.
• Stay current with the innovations in your field of science or engineering, e.g. Computer programming, information technology, mechanical engineering & manufacturing, electronics, telecommunications, chemistry and food sciences.
• Provide clients with professional and timely advice relating to documentation, the SR&ED program and its compliance.
• Prepare resource utilization that is supported by the technical descriptions.
• Stay current with the latest developments and changes in the SR&ED legislature.
• Assist and guide clients during technical reviews with the CRA.


Skills & Qualifications:

• Preferred minimum 1 year experience in preparing SR&ED tax credit claims or in working for the CRA auditing SR&ED tax credit claims.
• University degree and/or strong technical expertise in a specific field of science and engineering (B. Eng. / B.Sc.).
• Willingness to develop an in-depth understanding of the SR&ED program and contribute to the continually improving internal documentation, tools, methods, and models.
• Outstanding oral communication skills and ability to articulately the subtleties of the SR&ED program, discuss in technical terms with our client’s to draw out the development obstacles they faced, and advancements they made.
• Excellent technical and persuasive writing skills, as well as, strong editorial capabilities.
• Excellent time management skills essential in simultaneously handling multiple client assignments as well as the ability to work independently.
• Ability to travel to client locations is desirable.
