The Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) is a Canada-wide network of organizations and individuals that promotes and supports meaningful and equitable employment of people with disabilities through a range of programs and services.
The CCRW is seeking a Web Developer for a National Project ¡V ¡§Youth-Ability in Skilled Trades (YAST) ¡V The Next Generation (TNG)¡¨. YAST will be promoting career opportunities for newly graduated youth with disabilities by developing specific skill sets and preparing them for future long-term occupations.
Responsibilities:
„X Develop Employers and Job seekers fully-accessible YAST sub-sections and maintain the existing YAST website using W3C accessibility guidelines
„X Create and optimize website content using a variety of graphics, database, animation and other software
„X Ensure consistency in website look and feel across provincial sub-sites
„X Coordinate with the Project Coordinator to obtain website content
„X Source, select and organize information for inclusion, and design the appearance, layout and flow of the web site
„X Develop open-source CMS
„X Maintain the YAST website
Qualifications:
„X Bachelors degree or college diploma in computer science or web design
„X Thorough knowledge of CMS (open source), PHP, MySQL, MS SQL, myPHP, ASP.net, HTML/XHTML and CSS
„X Knowledge of a variety of interactive media software products
„X Ability to develop database-driven websites
„X Experience editing and optimizing graphics for the web (using Adobe Photoshop or other similar program)
„X Technology mentorship or Help Desk/troubleshooting or similar experience
„X Programming or scripting experience
„X Excellent written communication skills
„X Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
„X Ability to work in a team as well as individually
„X Up to 30 years of age
„X Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons on whom refugee protection has been conferred;
„X Not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits
„X Not previous participant of a Career Focus program
The funding for this program is provided by Service Canada. Due to the eligibility criteria, CCRW will only be accepting applications from persons with disabilities, Aboriginal persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities with disabilities. Preferences will be given to those who are fluently bilingual (English and French).
