POSITION: Circulation Intern
DEPARTMENT: Circulation
LOCATION: Downtown Toronto
STATUS: Internship – Please note that this is an unpaid internship.
START DATE: June 1st, 2009 (flexible)
HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: A minimum commitment of 15 hours per week is required; flexible on days
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 2 – 3 months (flexible)
Summary:
St. Joseph Media is Canada’s third largest magazine publisher with brands including award-winning titles such as Toronto Life, Fashion, Weddingbells, Mariage Quebec, WHERE Canada magazines, Canadian Family, and Quill and Quire.
The circulation department of St Joseph Media is seeking a circulation intern.
If you are interested in being an intern in a fast paced, challenging and ever changing environment, then circulation is the department for you. Take this opportunity to work with experienced circulators on exciting magazines. Show us your marketing savvy. Don’t have experience in circulation….no worries, we’ll show you the ropes.
The candidate will gain an understanding of direct marketing (print and web platforms) in terms of campaign execution and response analysis. He/she will understand how a Consumer Marketing department functions from new business promotions to retention programs to newsstand promotions. The candidate will also enhance project management skills, interact with various businesses and departments, internally and externally as well as gain exposure to the trade show industry….e.g. Metro Home Show, Word on the Street, One of a Kind Shows.
Responsibilities:
• Update weekly reports
• Assist with the creation of the Toronto Life 2for1 coupon book which includes contacting clients to get approved contracts, working with graphic designer, proof reading and editing, and updating 2for1 coupon database with 2010 client information
• Assist with the management of trade shows – this includes pulling together all promotional material required
• Trafficking and scheduling for web page and web ad projects
• Update monthly tracking reports
• Help with researching and planning of a peer-to-peer subscription marketing project to be launch on website
• Assist in tracking deliveries and DA requests for Weddingbells magazine
• Creation of tracking documents for web pages, audit documents, print samples, invoices an renewal samples for all magazines
• Maintaining newsstand cover database
• Other tasks as required
Qualifications and Requirements:
Please note that previous circulation experience is not required.
• Attending a college or university program – preferably with a Marketing focus
• Extremely detail oriented
• Able to use excel and approach
• Good communication skills
• Professional attitude and demeanor
• Punctual
• Takes pride in the quality of the work you produce
• Can work with a team but able to function independently as well
